Depression Rehab In Spain
A person’s mental health is one of the most important things they can care for. Yet mental health problems are unbelievably common in the UK. Mental health charity Mind estimates that 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience mental health conditions in a given year. It’s also commonly reported that around 1 in 6 adults in the UK (aged 16 or over) report moderate to severe depression symptoms each year.
So what does that mean?
A) Depression is more common than most people realise
B) Depression is more persistent than most people realise, too
One option for depression treatment is a residential rehab centre, where you can escape some of the triggers that may be exacerbating your depression symptoms, and instead focus on effective recovery, treatment, and long-term coping strategies. We can offer residential treatment for depression at our rehabilitation centre in the heart of Spain.

What Is Depression?
For those suffering with depression, it can look very different. One person will experience depression in a completely different way to another. Depression also ranges in severity, from individuals with depressive symptoms that are perhaps so mild that they don’t amount to a medical diagnosis, to those with clinical depression which can range from mild depression to a major depressive disorder or persistent depressive disorder.
Whilst different for everybody, one symptom that generally persists with all who suffer from this mental health condition is low mood. Feeling low more often than not can have significant impacts on a person’s work, personal, and social life.
Individuals may suffer with depression and find at-home treatment programmes to be effective. For many, mental health services on the NHS offering medication management and interpersonal therapy is enough to help with treating depression and providing them with more coping mechanisms for the future.
When individuals struggle to combat depression, a new approach is usually necessary, and unfortunately the NHS isn’t always able to offer alternative treatment options. That’s where InnerLife Recovery comes in. We offer a completely unique, tailored treatment programme for individuals suffering from depression, giving you the tools to not only beat depression, but keep it away long term, too.

How Is Depression Typically Treated?
A typical NHS treatment plan might include either medication, talking therapy, or a combination of the two.
Medication As A Depression Treatment
The medication route usually involves antidepressant medication, typically selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which work by preventing serotonin (a chemical in the body commonly known as the ‘feel good’ chemical for its ability to improve and regulate mood) from being absorbed too quickly by the body. This helps directly address the low mood typically associated with depression.
Therapy As A Depression Treatment
Often talking therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy are offered as a way to deal with the underlying causes of depression. Here the real root cause of the mental health problem is discussed and addressed, and new coping skills are learnt to support you in the future.
This can help some individuals with mild or moderate depression, but for those with more severe symptoms and complex mental health issues, another treatment option may need to be sought. Residential depression treatment centres can be a great option for some people. That’s where we can help.
How InnerLife Treats Depression
Our depression treatment model is a little different to the norm, because we believe in taking a whole-person approach. It’s our aim to change your inner life when you work with us, so that you leave our residential treatment centre in Spain with a renewed sense of who you are and a dedicated commitment to keeping depression at bay in the future.
With our team of experts, holistic approach, and after care package included with all treatment stays, you leave InnerLife Recovery with all the tools you need to tackle depression.
Clinical Diagnosis
The first step in treating depression is actually getting a formal diagnosis that allows us to understand the exact nature and severity of your depression and what that looks like for you. Even if you have a formal diagnosis, a member of our clinical team will be able to sit with you to better understand your depression so that an effective plan can be put in place.
Here, if appropriate, a medication treatment plan will be put in place too to support you with your depression treatment moving forwards.
Creating A Treatment Plan
All of our treatment plans for everyone that stays with us are fully personalised to the individual, ensuring they only complete tasks on their road to recovery that’s relevant to them. This ensures a higher chance of long term success.
Part of the secret to our success is how we’re able to adapt our treatment options in real time. NHS treatment programmes aren’t able to be as reactive as our team at InnerLife are. If we try a treatment option with you and it isn’t something you enjoy/feel is helping, then we can simply scrap it from the plan and try a different approach.
Individual And Group Therapy
A part of our treatment approach that proves to be incredibly effective is both individual and group talking therapies.
Individual therapies allow you to sit down, one on one, with a licensed member of our team to explore your depression, why it might occur, how you can deal with feeling low more effectively, and how to prevent depression in the future. Individual talking therapy allows you to really get to grips with what depression is for you, allowing you to learn the most effective coping skills for combating it in the future.
Group therapy works slightly differently. Here, you sit with others experiencing similar issues to you, allowing you all to discuss your symptoms and skills and techniques that have helped you in the past. The support system that naturally blossoms from group therapy means all who partake benefit from boosting one another along to find a solution to their depression that really works for them.
Taking A Holistic Approach
What sets us apart from most other treatment options is that we don’t just focus on medication and talking (although these are both key tools in our arsenal). We instead focus on treating the whole person in front of us, in a whole host of ways that provides you with little techniques and skills that when added together, can transform your life.
Techniques such as breathing exercises, yoga, meditation and even physical exercise can all be useful tools in battling depression, too. We take the time to include a variety of activities in your holistic treatment plan to give you a range of methods that help tackle depressive symptoms should you experience them again in the future.
Aftercare Programmes
All of our treatment plans come with aftercare support included. We know that your battle with depression isn’t a one-and-done sort of deal. Whilst recurring symptoms of depression aren’t guaranteed, they can return in time. That’s why we’re on hand to help by offering aftercare support to all who attend our residential treatment programmes.
Using the tools we equip you with whilst at our rehab centre and leaning on our aftercare support when necessary, you can transform your life for the better when you work with our expert team.
